Een zelfgecontroleerde klinische studie ter evaluatie van de werkzaamheid van cryotherapie bij de preventie van perifere neuropathie door chemotherapie bij patiënten met borstkanker die een behandeling krijgen met paclitaxel, heeft aangetoond dat cryotherapie de subjectieve symptomen, de objectieve tekenen (tastzin en temperatuurgewaarwording) en de handigheid klinisch en statistisch significant verbetert. Die studie bewijst dus dat cryotherapie een doeltreffende strategie is bij de preventie van perifere neuropathie bij patiënten die worden behandeld met paclitaxel.Hanai A et al.
